Life Lessons

Notecards

This is one of the best lessons I've learned, and I have to credit my brief time in Amway for it. It alone has the power to change your life in dramatic ways. Here's how it works:

Get a deck of blank 3x5 notecards and a pen. You're going to write on those cards in a positive slant everything you want to be or do. Here are some examples of my cards:

Now that you have your cards made, they're really easy to use. Put them in your purse, your daytimer, your favorite book. Then at least 3 times a day, pull them out and read them out loud to yourself. Mix them up often. Add new cards and change out the ones you have. The whole process should take you less than 3 minutes every day, but it will greatly combat the negative messages that can be absorbed from your own mind and from others.

It's very important to make sure to write things in the positive. For example, don't do "I'm not going to eat a lot", but rather, "I am in control of my weight". The idea is that you don't want to create a card that could completely reverse meaning by removing a word. ("I'm not going to eat" could easily become "I'm going to eat".) Basically you don't want to risk your subconscious missing a piece of your phrase.
